Goldfinch Productions was founded in 2018 by a group of friends with one thing in common: their need to put theater above literally everything else in their lives. With a combined 50+ years in theater, the board of directors is comprised of passionate individuals from all walks of life. Some of us are lawyers, some business entrepreneurs, some legislature staff, some tech specialists, some elected officials. The common thread that ties us together is theater. As we take the next step of our journey together, we invite you - the community - to join us.

Cynthia Pratt
Board Member

Cynthia is one of Goldfinch’s newest board members. While having little acting experience, she does have a long history of promoting arts. Cynthia is one of the early founding members of the Olympia Poetry Network, a 30-year poetry organization that advocates for poetry and poets in the Puget Sound area. Cynthia has been a longtime supporter of the written and performing arts, believing that engaging in the arts let’s you see the world beyond yourself. Listening to the spoken word or a play finds us laughing, crying, thinking about provocative questions, and challenging our imagination. She would love to see her city, Lacey, have a facility for live entertainment. She is currently Deputy Mayor of Lacey.

Ed Thorpe
Board Member

Ed has been a major supporter of the local theater community for many decades. Born in Seattle, he made Olympia his home in the 1970s when he came to work for the State Legislature as a staff attorney. He founded the Olympia Theater Club, a group of avid theatergoers of the area. In 2018, Ed also became one of the founding members of Goldfinch Productions. Since then, his influence has been realized in all aspects of production, from script adaption to brilliant performances on the stage.

Kevin McManus
Artistic Director

Kevin has been a passionate arts advocate and local theater scholar for over two decades. After his stint at Cornish College of the Arts, where he studied Acting, he began to perform on stages throughout the Puget Sound. During this time, he developed a studio for youth and adult educational programs. He has taught both classical and modern techniques in courses on acting for film and stage. Kevin has served on numerous municipal advisory boards, including the Olympia Arts Commission. He has directed productions ranging from Shakespeare’s As You Like It to Shrek the Musical. As co-founder and first Artistic Director for Goldfinch Productions, he has high aspirations for the new company. He hopes that the community will continue to support the work and, most of all, the people who make Goldfinch fly.
